Weather:  Sunny 17 degrees
Attendance: 2702

Vancouver FC continues to be undefeated after a convincing 2-0 win over the still-winless Halifax Wanderers. Vancouver began the game by attacking quickly and nearly scoring in the first 30 seconds after a sloppy attempted clearing header by the Halifax defender.

Vancouver FC opened the scoring in the 17th minute after Rocco Romeo pounced on a loose ball after the Halifax keeper managed to prevent a near own goal. The visitors’ defenders were struggling in the 1st half to deal with Vancouver’s thrusts forward, and it was only a matter of time before the Eagles capitalized.

Halifax almost equalized on a quick counterattack in the 47th minute when Aiden Daniels chipped a ball from 25 meters that just went over the cross bar.

In the 52nd minute, more sloppiness along the Halifax backline gave Moses Dyer a partial breakaway, he beat the goalie only to hit the right post, but the rebound came straight to Alejandro Díaz, who had an easy tap in to make the score 2-0.

Moses Dyer had a second breakaway in the 57th minute but was stopped by Halifax goalie Yann Fillion.

In the 94th minute, Halifax had one final chance to get on the scoreboard with a shot off the cross bar. Zachary Fernandez was then unable to capitalize on the rebound as his shot narrowly missed the goal.

Vancouver FC’s next game is on April 23rd when they play their first road game against Cavalry FC in the Canadian Championship.
